Accessibility statement
The Melkite Catholic Archbishopric of Akka, Haifa, Nazareth and all of Galilee wants its website to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities, independently and with dignity.
Accessibility level
The site is designed and built to meet Israeli Standard 5568 for web accessibility, which is based on the international WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA, in line with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013. We are working to meet WCAG 2.1 at the same level.
What we have made accessible
- Full keyboard navigation with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
- A consistent heading structure (one main heading per page) and clear page regions for screen readers.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Sufficient colour contrast, and text that can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
- Each page declares its language and direction (Arabic right-to-left, English left-to-right).
- Labelled form fields with clear confirmation and error messages.
- Respect for the “reduce motion” setting on your device.
- A responsive layout for phones, tablets and computers.
Known limitations
- Some older archive material migrated from the previous site may lack image descriptions; we are completing them gradually.
- Some attached archive files (such as PDFs) may not be fully accessible.
- Content embedded from external services, such as YouTube and Facebook, depends on those services.
Accessibility coordinator
If you have difficulty using the site or reaching any content, or have a suggestion to improve its accessibility, please contact the Archbishopric’s accessibility coordinator and we will address it as soon as possible.
- Through the contact page.
It helps to tell us the page address, a description of the problem, and your device, browser or assistive technology.
Date of this statement
